Improving Training and Certification Evidence with AI Assisted Quality Checks

Ensuring clean, compliant evidence from the moment it’s captured.
In safety critical environments, the real challenge isn’t recording training — it’s dealing with poor quality training and certification evidence after the fact.
Poor quality evidence creates every day, avoidable issues: low quality uploads that can’t be used as proof, unclear photos attached to records, incomplete submissions entering the system, approval queues filled with obvious rejections, and endless follow up emails for admin teams.
Whether approvals are enabled or not, bad data at source slows everything downstream, and fixing it later only adds more work. Quality problems don’t need more oversight; they need to be prevented before they enter the system.
The solution: A simple quality gate that shapes better behaviour
HSI Skillko introduces AI assisted quality checks directly into the training and certification workflow. Rather than identifying who a learner is, HSI Skillko focuses on enforcing a minimum standard of clear, usable evidence right at the point of capture.
Training or certification actions cannot be completed unless a clear, live human facial image is captured — creating a practical, automated quality gate that improves data before it ever reaches review.
Quality checks for training
When a learner completes a course on their mobile device, HSI Skillko can require a live facial image capture using the device’s camera.
This step is mandatory (when configured by an administrator), must be completed in the moment, and cannot be bypassed.
Learners are not permitted to upload an existing image or reuse one from their device gallery. At this point, HSI Skillko performs an AI based quality check to confirm that a human face is present, that the image is clear and usable, and that the capture is taking place live, in real time.
If the image is blurred, obstructed, or not a face at all, progression is blocked and the learner is prompted to try again.
“Live facial image required to complete training."

Quality checks for certificate uploads
The same quality at source logic applies to certificate uploads, such as Safe Pass or CSCS cards, where a photo is expected.
These certifications aren’t completed within HSI Skillko, but organisations can still enforce quality when workers upload evidence. This ensures supporting images meet a usable standard before they enter the system, not after they’ve already reached an approval queue.
The result: fewer approval cycles, less rework for admins, and cleaner records from the start.
"Poor quality certificate images are blocked before submission.”

Quality controlled facial capture — not facial recognition
This capability is deliberately not facial recognition.
- Individuals faces are not identified
- faces are not matched
- faces are not tracked
The AI performs a quality and presence check only, ensuring that a real, live human face is captured clearly enough to be used as evidence.

Cleaner evidence before it reaches an admin
By enforcing quality at the source, low quality submissions never reach approval queues, and administrators no longer spend time rejecting unusable evidence. This also significantly reduces the volume of resubmissions and follow up requests.
As a result, only evidence that meets the minimum required standard enters the system, turning quality enforcement into an automated process rather than an administrative burden.
Evidence attached directly to the certificate
HSI Skillko continuously manages competency checks, certification validity, training requirements, and right-to-work verification. This proactive approach guarantees accurate readiness before deployment, with real-time updates flowing into Procore. The result is complete confidence that every worker meets the required standard—without delays or manual intervention.
Once a valid image is captured, the learner confirms completion.
At that moment:
- the quality checked image is accepted
- completion is recorded
- the image is attached to the certificate as supporting evidence
The image is not used to identify the learner, it simply confirms attendance and ensures the evidence meets a usable standard.
Designed for real world use
For learners:- one instruction
- one live capture
- completion continues seamlessly
For admins:
- better data
- fewer reviews
- less chasing
Better training data by design
HSI Skillko’s AI assisted quality checks quietly lift the standard of training and certification data — delivering: Clear evidence. Less noise. Records you can rely on.
