Celebrating Customer Success: Siemens Energy Shortlisted for Industry Awards

We’re delighted to share that Siemens Energy, a HSI Skillko customer, has been shortlisted in two categories at the prestigious Safety & Health Excellence Awards 2026, hosted by Health and Safety Matters.
Siemens Energy uses HSI Skillko to support workforce competency and compliance management across its operations to support managing workforce onboarding, inductions and competency management.
They’ve been recognised for:
- Best Use of Health and Safety Data to Lower Incident Rates
- Best Health & Safety Project
Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony on 1 July 2026 at the Coventry Building Society Arena, hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan.
Recognising Excellence in High-Risk Environments
Siemens Energy operates at the forefront of the energy sector, delivering critical infrastructure such as the Celtic Interconnector—a high-voltage link between Ireland and France (the project shortlisted for Best Health & Safety Project). Their work spans conventional and renewable power, grid technology, storage, and the electrification of complex industrial processes. With over 200,000 man-hours delivered annually across multiple sites, maintaining strong oversight of workforce competence and safety is essential.
Managing Risk Across a Complex Contractor Network
A significant portion of operational activity is delivered through subcontractors, particularly across construction, offshore wind, and grid infrastructure projects. As a result, effective oversight of contractor competency, compliance, and site access is a key control measure. Over time, Siemens Energy Ireland evolved its approach, moving away from manual, fragmented processes towards more consistent and streamlined workforce management.
A Step Change in Workforce Oversight
In 2023, Siemens Energy introduced a more structured approach to workforce competency and compliance management across its operations in Ireland to better reflect the scale and safety-critical nature of its operations. Using HSI Skillko, this now supports over 1,800 users across 12 contractor teams, helping to verify workforce compliance, manage onboarding and digital inductions, support training and learning requirements, and strengthen access control through site integrations.
Siemens Energy is transforming workforce risk oversight by digitising and consolidating competency management, replacing dispersed manual systems with real-time visibility of training validity. This embedded, leading-indicator approach supports 500,000 LTI-free hours and sustained reductions in incident rates, strengthening long-term, preventative safety governance across the organisation. This shift has reduced administrative burden and improved visibility, enabling teams to focus more on proactive safety management.
Celebrating Industry Leadership
Being shortlisted in two categories reflects Siemens Energy’s commitment to advancing health and safety practices in complex environments, and highlights the progress being made across the industry.
